Growing a bright future

At our core, Community at the Core is dedicated to supporting the agricultural revitalization of Appalachian coal communities. Through AgriTech education and hands-on training, we’ll create thriving agriculture epicenters rich with agripreneurs and a passionate workforce all acting together to deeply root a revitalized economy in their reinvigorated communities.

Meet Our Founder

Renowned football quarterback Bernie Kosar is famous for his 1983 national championship with the University of Miami, and an impressive career as an NFL quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and Dallas Cowboys. The seed for Community at the Core was planted while Bernie was visiting AgriTech areas in Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia where former strip mines were being revitalized with carbon-reducing apple orchards. There, Bernie was inspired to develop opportunities to help communities being affected by a declining coal industry through agricultural education, training, and other positive efforts to reinvigorate the vital Appalachian region.
